NARRATIVE TEXT

First meeting on second semester for grade 9

(Pertemuan pertama pada semester 2, materi untuk kelas 9)

Definisi Teks naratif (Narrative) adalah teks yg berisi tentang cerita imajinasi atau dongeng dan bertujuan menghibur .

Tujuan : Untuk menghibur pembaca atau pendengar melalui cerita.

Unsur Kebahasaan :

a. Fokus pada satu tokoh atau pelaku

b. Terdapat action verbs, verbal, dan mental processes.

c. Terdapat kalimat langsung dan tidak langsung

d. Menggunakan Simple Past tense

e. Kata penghubung yg menghubungkan waktu tertentu

f. Terdapat dialog

g. Menggunakan konjungsi

h. Menggunakan bahasa yg imajinatif.

Struktur Teks Naratif (Generic Structure) :

a. Orientasi (Orientation) Bagian ini memperkenalkan karakter dari cerita narasi, waktu, setting dari cerita tersebut kepada para pembaca atau pendengar.

b. Komplikasi (Complication) Ini merupakan bagian yg ditunggu oleh para pembaca dan pendengar, karena pada bagian inilah masalah dalam cerita timbul, sehingga cerita narasi tersebut menjadi lebih menarik untuk dibaca dan tidak membosankan.

c. Resolusi (Resolution) Pada bagian ini, masalah-masalah yg terdapat pada bagian komplikasi mulai diselesaikan dg adanya berbagai solusi.

d. Reorientasi (Re-orientation) Reorientasi merupakan bagian terakhir dari teks narasi dan biasanya berada di akhir cerita atau di paragraf terakhir.

Contoh teks Naratif :

One day, Wildcat caught a chicken. After that, he started waliking home. It was getting dark so he decided to spend the night at Black’s Bear house. Black Bear welcomed Wildcat. Before he went to sleep, Wildcat noticed that his friend had many big and healthy chickens. Later that night, Wildcat woke up and ate his chicken. Then he hide the feathers. The next morning, Wildcat told his friend that his chicken was lost. Black Bear felt sorry for wildcat, so he gave Wildcat one of his chickens. Wildcat happily went home with the chicken. The next week, Wildcat visited Black Bear again and tried to trick Black Bear again. However, Black Bear was suspicious. So, Black Bear kept an eye on Wildcat that night. He saw Wildcat eat his chicken and then hide the feathers. The following morning, Wildcat told Black Bear his chicken was lost. Black Bear knew that Wildcat was lying. He told Wildcat to take all the feathers and asked him not to return to his home again.

Tugas untuk teks Naratif

  1. Read the text “The golden starfruit tree” (buku paket hal 140-141) !
  2. Answer the questions correctly !
  3. – How is the character of the two brothers?
  4. – What did the older brother get from his father’s wealth?
  5. – What did the raven do to the star fruit?
  6. – In your opinion, what is a raven?
  7. – What did the raven promise to the younger brother?
  8. – What should the younger brother prepare when the raven said about the repay?
  9. – What is the moral value from the text?

Pertemuan ke enam (sixth meeting)

Pada pembelajaran sebelumnya kita sudah membahas Definisi dan struktur dari Teks Prosedur. Didalam Teks Prosedur kita mempunyai dua jenis teks. Yang pertama Teks Prosedur Receipt (resep, bisa masakan atau resep yang lain) dan yang kedua Teks Prosedur manual. Pada pertemuan ini kita akan membahas Contoh Teks Prosedur  resep dan manual. Mari kita lihat perbedaan antara Teks Prosedur Resep dan Teks Prosedur manual.

Contoh Teks Prosedur (Resep)

  1.  Resep

Ingredients:

  • 1/2 kg of chopped beef
  • 150 gr of grated coconut
  • 2 liters coconut milk

Spices to be buised:

  • 1 turmeric leaf
  • 4 fragrant lime leaves
  • 2 tamarinds
  • 1 lemongrass

Spices to be ground:

  • 150 gr of red chilies
  • 5 cm of turmeric
  • 10 cm of galangal
  • 2 cloves of garlic
  • 8 pieces of shallots
  • 10 cm ginger
  • salt

Steps:

  • Fry the grated coconut without oil until it is brown. Grind it.
  • Mix it with the chopped beef and make small balls.
  • Boil the ground spices in a low heat and put the coconut milk, the turmeric leaf, fragrant lime leaf, tamarind, and lemongrass.
  • Stir the coconut milk gently until it becomes thick.
  • Put in the meatballs.
  • Lower the heat until the  coconut milk becomes brown then lift the meatballs.
  • Serve the dish with the hot rice.

How to Upload Video to YOUTUBE using Your Mobile Phone

  1. Open your video using a video player on your device.
  2. Find the SHARE button on your device. Press the SHARE button.
  3. Select YOUTUBE from the SHARE menu. Press the YOUTUBE button to share your video. You may need to sign in if necessary.
  4. Type a description and interesting title for your video.
  5. Describe the video include a short description about the video.
  6. Add tags in order to make video appear in other viewer’s searches.
  7. Select the privacy setting. Choose whether the video will be uploaded publicly, privacy or unlisted.
  8. Click the Upload or Publish setting. Once you have your privacy setting and description set, upload the video by clicking the Publish or Upload button.

 

Pertemuan ke 5 (fifth meeting for grade eight)

Assalamualaikum… Hallo students…How are you today? I hope all of you are okay and happy, of course…

If you’re not ok or may be you’re not healthy, I suggest that, you should take enough rest.

And you must not do the much work, ok?

Before we continued our lesson, you pay attention to the bold typed sentences above, please?

ok… right….we will talk about “How to give suggestions and How to state rules and obligations.”

(Cara memberikan saran dan menyatakan peraturan).

Example :

  1. I’m sure you are all ready to use English with me and your friends. You should not be ashamed to use English with me. You should not be ashamed to speak and write to each other in English. You should be sure that you can do it because I will always help you.
  2. We must wear a uniform everyday. From Monday to Thursday we must wear the batik shirt. The girls must wear a black skirt, and the boys must wear a pair of black pants. On Friday we must wear the Scout uniform. We must wear proper shoes. We must not wear sandals, a T-shirt, or a casual wear at any place and at any time during the school hours.

Perhatikan kata-kata yg dicetak tebal pada contoh kalimat di atas. Di sana tertulis should (seharusnya), should not (tidak seharusnya). Kemudian di sana juga tertulis must(harus), must not (tidak boleh).

  • Nah….dengan kata lain should digunakan untuk memberikan saran artinya saran tersebut bisa dilakukan atau tidak dilakukan (lemah).
  • Sebaliknya, penggunaan kata Must cenderung lebih kuat karena digunakan untuk menyatakan peraturan atau kewajiban. Kalau di sekolah contohnya digunakan dalam pembuatan Tata Tertib sekolah.

Pertemuan ke 3 (third meeting for grade eight)

In this meeting we will talk more about “showing appreciation and telling what other people think of something”.

Dialogue 1.

  • Siti  : Udin, do you think Edo angry with me?

         Udin  : I don’t think so. Look he’s smiling.

Dialogue 2

  • Teacher : Thank you Lina. Your story is very interesting. I like it.

         Lina : Thank you mom.

Pertemuan ke 2 (second meeting for grade eight)

On this chapter we will study about :

-Getting attention(meminta perhatian)
– Checking if we’re understood(mengecek apakah kita faham atau tidak)
– Showing appreciation(menunjukkan apresiasi atau penghargaan)
– Telling what we or other people think(meminta pendapat seseorang tentang suatu hal)

There are some dialogs in the classroom

  1. Teacher   : Everybody, may I have your attention, please?

Student 1 : Yes, mom.

Student 2 : Yes, mom.

2. Teacher   : From now on we will use English in our English class, ok? We will use English in our English class.

Siti, what did I say?

Siti : We will use English in our English class.

Teacher : What do you think Edo? Are you ready?

Edo : Yes, mom. I’m ready.

Kemudian, tulislah percakapan yang berisi ungkapan getting attention(meminta perhatian), Checking if we’re understood(mengecek apakah kita faham atau tidak), Showing appreciation(menunjukkan apresiasi atau penghargaan) dan Telling what we or other people think(meminta pendapat orang lain tentang suatu hal). Tugas ditulis di buku tugas, kemudian difoto dikirim via google classroom di private comment.

Pertemuan ke 5 (fifth meeting)

Procedure Text

Teks prosedur adalah teks yg berisi tentang cara melakukan sesuatu yg dijelaskan dalam serangkaian tindakan atau lagkah-langkah tertentu.

Tujuan teks prosedur : Memberikan petunjuk mengenai langkah-langkah/metode/cara dalam membuat atau melakukan sesuatu.

Generic Stucture/Struktur Teks prosedur :

    1. Goal          : Judul teks (biasanya terdapat pada teks resep)
    2. Materials : bagian ini tidak selalu ada di teks prosedur (kadang dicantumkan dan kadang tidakdicantumkan )
    3. Steps        : langkah-langkah yg harus ditempuh untuk mencapai tujuan teks prosedur

Unsur Kebahasaan :

    1. Menggunakan Simple Present Tense, dalam bentuk imperative (kalimat perintah). Contoh: Add some sugar, Prepare all the materials, Boil the egg, dll.
    2. Menggunakan temporal conjunctions (berupa penomoran yang mengindikasikan urutan/langkah, biasanya terdapat dalam teks tertulis)

a. Sebagai pembuka kalimat (pengurutan) terutama dalam teks lisan.

– First, …./Firstly, ….

– Second, …./Secondly, ….

– Finally, ….

– Afterwards, ….

– Lastly, ….

b. Sebagai pembuka keterangan waktu, terutama dalam teks tertulis. Contoh : before, after, when, while,                            until

Contoh teks Prosedur

How to Make a Pirate Hat

Materials : Newspaper/reusable paper

Steps        : – First, divide the paper into two parts.

– Then, fold the paper in half horizontally. Keep the corners matched up.

– Next, bring the corner into the center. Take the top right corner of the paper and bring it to the center of                        the newspaper, making a triangle. Do the same thing to the other corner.

– After that, fold the bottom of the paper up. Make the piece of paper look roughly like a pirate hat.

– Finally, add decorations to finish the pirate hat.

 

 

Third meeting (Pertemuan ke 3)

You can do this exercise on your exercise book.

  1. One of your classmate is hospitalized, because of DBD. what will you say to her/him?
  2. Shinta, your big sister graduates from the University as the 1st rank. You will say….
  3. Today is mother’s birthday. We say….
  4. The school basketball is winning the competition this year. What do you say to the captain?
  5. Mr Luki’s family has moved to his new house. What will you say to them?

Ungkapan-ungkapan ini bisa kita gunakan dalam kegiatan sehari-hari. Sesuai dengan event atau peristiwa, misalnya

  • Pesta Ultah atau merayakan kenaikan jabatan.
  • Merayakan atau menempati rumah baru
  • Merayakan kelulusan atau menjuarai satu festival, dll
